The IAAR promotes management system assessment by acting as a resource for organizations developing their own management assessment based programs. The IAAR works with industry groups, government agencies and other organizations to provided guidance in the appropriate use of international standards, the accreditation process and reliance on accredited registrars.

For example, the IAAR was consulted by the Chrysler Corporation, General Motors and Ford Motor Company to develop the ISO 9000-based management system requirements known as QS-9000 for auto industry suppliers.
